Cursive Unicode to Plain Text

Paste selectable styled characters and restore the supported letters and digits to plain text.

Pasted characters only: this tool does not read handwriting in a photo, scan or PDF. Unknown characters stay visible instead of being guessed.
INPUT

Copy the actual characters from a bio, caption, name or message. A screenshot cannot be pasted here.

Character by character

What Happens to the Text You Paste

The result is a deterministic lookup, not language translation and not a handwriting guess.

SUPPORTED

Mapped styles restore

๐“—๐“ฎ๐“ต๐“ต๐“ธ โ†’ Hello

The status names each supported mapping it detects.

PLAIN

Ordinary text stays

Hello, 123! โ†’ Hello, 123!

ASCII text, punctuation and emoji remain in the result.

UNKNOWN

Other styles stay visible

แด€ส™แด„ โ†’ แด€ส™แด„

Unmapped characters are preserved so you can review them yourself.

Three checks

Review the Result Before You Reuse It

The converter avoids silent deletion, but you still need to inspect anything outside the supported tables.

  1. Paste selectable text. Use the actual characters from a bio, caption, nickname or message.
  2. Read the status. It reports supported styles, plain ASCII or an input outside the mappings.
  3. Copy after review. Check the output for characters that stayed styled, then copy the plain result.

Input boundary

Unicode Text and Handwriting Images Are Different Problems

Google's results for โ€œcursive to textโ€ mainly expect image OCR. This page deliberately handles the smaller, exact text-mapping task.

Unicode describes compatibility mappings for font, circled and width variants in UAX #15. Its mathematics guidance also says Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols were designed for technical notation, so plain letters are the safer form when the styling is no longer needed.

Scope and limits

Four Practical Questions

Google's visible PAA questions for the broad query were about image OCR. They are used here to clarify the boundary, not to claim this page reads handwriting.

Can this read cursive from a photo or scan?

No. This page accepts selectable text characters only. It has no image upload, camera, PDF or handwriting OCR feature. A photo or scan needs a separate OCR or handwriting-recognition workflow, and an important transcription should be checked against the original image.

Which styled characters can it restore?

The reverse table covers 954 characters across the same 19 mappings used by this site, including script, bold script, fraktur, double-struck, serif and sans-serif variants, monospace, circled, squared, parenthesized and fullwidth forms. The shipped verification checks every mapped character and the exact round trip back to plain ASCII.

Why did some characters stay unchanged?

They may be ordinary letters, punctuation, emoji, or characters from a style outside the 19 supported mappings. The tool keeps them visible instead of deleting them or guessing what they mean.

Does the converter upload or store the text I paste?

The converter code does not send or persist the text you enter. The page does request its site assets and Google Fonts resources, but the pasted text is processed by the mapping code in your browser.
